Physiotherapy qualifications
What are they and what do they mean?
Post-Graduate Qualifications in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy
Post-graduate university degrees in physiotherapy are available only to those who have previously attained a Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree or equivalent. Post-graduate degrees often combine academic study to enhance diagnostic, decision making and clinical reasoning skills with exposure to a breadth of clinical environments and the scrutiny of expert physiotherapists. APA Titled Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist
Of the 32,000 odd physiotherapists who practice in Australia, only 8% have achieved the qualification of APA Titled Physiotherapists. Our practice principal, Sam, is one such physiotherapist. APA Titling is awarded by the Australian College of Physiotherapists to practitioners who have reached the second-highest tier of qualification attainable in Australia. APA Specialist Physiotherapist
A Specialist physiotherapist has completed a two-year training and examination program. Specialist physiotherapists are revered within the profession and are increasingly recognised by other professions as representing the pinnacle of physiotherapy qualification. Less than 1% of Australian physiotherapists hold the title of Specialist.
