About Montrose
Montrose is a small suburb located 8km away from Lilydale, it is situated at the foothills of the Mount Dandenong and the town centre is surrounded by local sporting clubs, churches and schools. The Montrose Recreation Reserve is a popular destination for families and features a play ground made from recycled plastics, barbecue facilities and is the home to the not only the scout group but the Montrose tennis, netball, soccer, football, cricket and callisthenics clubs. Montrose was originally referred to as South Mooroobalk and then later the Double Pitts after the double handed saw pit method used in the local timber industry, it wasn’t until 1892 that the area was renamed Montrose, by local landowner James Walker.
